Chapter 4 : Did I Touch?
I never thought I''d end up in the police station for indecent assault.
The person I knocked down was a teenager, only seventeen and still a minor. He insisted that I had improper intentions towards him. Even though I denied it, he kept saying I touched him.
"Where did she touch you?" the police officer asked carefully.
The teenager''s name was Philip Williams. He looked at me, pointed to his chest, then to his lower waist, and said, "Here, here... she touched me."
What a load of crap!
I almost cursed out loud. I hadn''t even touched Alexander, such a handsome man, and now this kid, who hadn''t even fully grown up, claimed I touched him?
The police officer looked at me again. Before he could ask, I denied it, "I didn''t touch him. I just accidentally bumped into him."
"Have you been drinking?" The officer''s gaze was meaningful.
In this society, it''s normal for men to drink and party, but if a woman drinks, she''s often seen as improper.
I nodded, "Yes, I have."
"How much did you drink?" The officer''s question seemed irrelevant to the situation.
But I answered honestly, "One bottle of beer."
The officer looked skeptical. I immediately thought of my friend Braylon, who could vouch for me. But just my luck, while I was tangled up on the ground with the kid, Braylon had texted me that he was called back to the hospital to save a bleeding patient.
I understood what the officer was implying and explained again, "I wasn''t drunk, and I definitely didn''t take advantage of this kid."
The officer noted my statement and looked at Philip, "Are you sure she touched you? Lying and making false accusations are serious offenses."
"Of course, I''m sure," Philip insisted stubbornly. I was so angry I wanted to get up and punch him.
Before I could act on that impulse, Philip''s eyes suddenly lit up, "Sis, you''re here?"
Since he was a minor, his guardian had to be called. I turned to explain to his family, but I was stunned when I saw who had arrived.
It was a man and a woman. The woman had long, straight black hair and wore a white dress, the epitome of a pure and innocent beauty.
Her name was Tiffany. I knew her, and the man beside her was Alexander.
"Philip, what''s going on?" Tiffany asked the teenager anxiously.
Philip didn''t answer but pouted at Alexander, "Sis, is this your new boyfriend?"
Alexander''s expression stiffened, and his gaze turned cold as he looked at me, "Alex, what''s going on?"
"Do you know this woman, Alex? I''m telling you, she''s a pervert. She touched me here and here..." Philip continued his nonsense, complete with gestures.
At this point, I had no energy left to explain. I just looked at Alexander. We had only been apart for a few hours, and now he was someone else''s boyfriend.
The reason he had left me in such a hurry earlier seemed to be clear now.
Tiffany looked at me gently and said, "Alex, I''m Tiffany, Philip''s sister."
I was surprised she recognized me.
Of course, as Alexander''s accessory, his admirer, anyone who knew him would know me.
But Tiffany and I had never interacted. I knew her because her husband had recently died in a car accident, and Alexander, as her husband''s good friend, had been busy for three days and nights without coming home.
I swallowed the bitterness in my throat, "I just accidentally knocked your brother down and ended up on top of him. I didn''t do any of the things he''s claiming."
Tiffany smiled apologetically, "I know, he''s always been a troublemaker."
She then walked over and gave Philip two light slaps on the head, explaining to the police, who then checked the surveillance footage and confirmed I was telling the truth.
"Since you all know each other, why don''t you discuss a resolution? Otherwise, this kid will be detained for making a false report," the officer said.
Tiffany immediately pulled Alexander aside, a small gesture, but it felt very intimate.
Alexander held a high position and naturally exuded an aura that kept people at a distance. It wasn''t common for anyone to touch him, and he didn''t like being touched. But Tiffany''s touch didn''t seem to bother him at all, clearly indicating this wasn''t the first time.
There were some things I didn''t want to think too deeply about.
As for reconciliation, I was just about to speak to Jason after a few seconds of thought when Alexander spoke up for me, "It was all a misunderstanding, let it go."
Then, he grabbed my hand tightly and started pulling me away.
